Retexturing by Captive Blasting from JMS Lincoln can dramatically enhance the skid resistance of polished surfaces on high speed or rural highways and airport runways.
The JMS Lincoln process of Retexturing to restore skid resistance is a real alternative to traditional Anti-Skid (High Friction) Surfacing, Surface Dressing or other mechanical Retexturing treatment techniques such as bush-hammering or diamond groove cutting.
High velocity steel shot is driven at the treatment surface in a safe working environment, using a specially designed Captive Blasting machine. This method re-exposes the macro texture of any trafficked surface with minimal effect on the integrity of the pavement. The micro texture of the surface aggregate is also enhanced, without the risk of splintering. Using the Captive Blasting Retexturing process from JMS Lincoln, damage to the road surface is minimised compared to other treatment methods. Multiple Retexturing treatments can therefore be carried out by Captive Blasting Retexturing on surfaces whose structural design life has not been exceeded.
JMS Lincoln devises a safe system of work for any site and provides methods to reduce risks to an acceptable level to other site workers and the general public during the Retexturing process. Captive Blasting recycles the shot, extracting the dust, with minimum risk of flying particles or residual shot being left on the surface after the Retexturing operation has been completed. Furthermore, the arisings from Retexturing by Captive Blasting are normally recycled into engineering materials. For more details, contact JMS Lincoln.
